Beautiful Fergana is the pearl of Uzbekistan and is the heartland of the most famous handicrafts.Fergana Valley is the most famous place for artisans around Uzbekistan. If you want to explore about Uzbekistan’s famous handicrafts from the masters themselves, then this two day Fergana Valley Tour is your choice. This itinerary will take you to historical Palace of Khudayar Khan in Kokand city and Juma mosques. You will pass through Islamic masterpieces like Said Akhmad-Khodja Madrasah which is operating today as craft workshops. In Fergana you can visit silk making shops and a factory in Margilan, Kyrgyz carpets making families in Ok Yer village, and see ancient Akhsikent ruins and Rishtan village. Rishtan is famous for its ceramics and the Yodgorlik Silk Factory in Margilan produces silk fabrics with traditional ikat designs. Because of my interest to traditional weaving techniques, Fergana is the recreation for me. It has a lot of potential as the center of traditional handicrafts, like pottery and silk.
Drive to the Kokand that is the city with thousand-years-old history through mountain range Kamchik Pass. From the pass you can watch a spectacular panorama of the Fergana Valley. Visit Kokand monuments. Visit a traditional Kyrgyz family manufacturing wool carpets.Visit Rishton town from Kokand (It takes 1hr). You will visit ceramist's family in Rishtan Town. Then you will drive to Margilan town.
Early morning start excursion Kumtepa Bazaar and Margilan town sights (Kumtepa Bazaar (only Sunday), the largest market in Fergana Valley). Drive to Axsikent - (1 hour from Marghilan) ruins of old capital of Fergana valley. PM Transfer to Tashkent.
